Thoughts about Guild Wars 2
Hey there,
So Im a fairly new player to GW, started like a week ago ( got all 3 campaigns merged ). Im originally a player of WoW... But I got terribly bored of all the crap in there, the imbalance, the grind, the gear etc...
Now I heard they are creating GW2. I totally support this idea 100%. And I dont mind that you wont be able to transfer existing chars, because creating new characters is allways fun, atleast for me...
But I just hope they wont make it something similar to traditional MMO's like WoW. Please Arenanet, please just dont make it a grind fest for gear, levels like in WoW. I just hate WoW and I love the style of GW, instanced areas, gear dosent matter much, lvl 20 which is easy to lvl up to. As I said im new and I like it here atm. But I fear they are going to make something like WoW which is a total grind fest and if you dont have the "super duper uber" gear you are worth nothin.
Offcourse add stuff thats good and improove the game, but keep the old spirit of Guild Wars and keep alot of things like they are now ( tho I would like to be able to jump and go off the cliffs hehe ). Making new races is ok and fine but dont make it so that choosing a race matters alot ( talking to the racial thingy like in WoW ).
I hope you know what I mean. Do everything that is best, keep the spirit of old Guild Wars and please dont make it a grindfest like WoW is atm.
Respectfully,
Sangi

Yes, yes, please read the PC Gamer article or all the summary threads that have been posted. It's been repeated over and over again that ArenaNet is smart enough not to make a WoW clone.

Knowing Anet, they are the company who likes to innovate. It was in there statement that they don't want to make another WOW clone and I believe them. They listen to the players and two years are quite long for development. We can still voice out the things that we want for GW2

I doubt we will see wow-clone. Afterall Anet left Blizzard to make something different, why would they copy them now.
Besides now we as players and anet as developer know much more what works, what doesn't and I bet GW2 will be better then original gw =]

Sangi I agree with you,as I am an ex WoW player too. Now i hate it...
I dont think ANet wants to make WoW clone either so I think we can relax....but one thing scares me:

Yeah, I'd hate to see GW become gear-based. I'm hoping for the same system of balanced armors/weapons, but prestigious skins being varied and hard to obtain (so you can still brag to no end).

It seems like (to me at least) that ANet took the things they liked about WoW and used them in GW. Thankfully, they also took the things they didn't like and threw them out the window.
I think ANet wants as little grind as possible, but they leave it open for those who want to farm for gold or greens or whatever. You don't have to grind to forward your progress in the game though. If they do make it gear-based, I think they would be innovative about it and not just straight WoW copy.
ANet has always championed the "casual gamer" and I don't think they'll stop now. Thank you, ANet.
